I’m thinking of buying a 2019 Ford Fiesta SE hatchback with a manual transmission. It’s got 64,784 miles on it. Any advice or thoughts?
It’s listed as a 5-speed manual, but under the options it says 6-speed auto. Do you think it’s actually automatic?
Pretty sure it’s manual.
The automatics had lots of transmission issues. They basically used a manual gearbox that was controlled by a computer to be automatic. I think Ford offered a lifetime warranty because of it. Rust is also a problem in some areas.

I’m only looking at manual transmissions, so hopefully that’s not an issue. I live in central Texas, so rust isn’t a big deal here.

Lucky you, I’d love to not worry about rust!

The manual ones are much better. Stay away from the automatics (most of them are probably gone by now anyway).

You should be good with the manual Fiesta.
I had a 2012 for 6 years and put 70k miles on it before I traded it for my Ranger. It was a really reliable car and did well even in the snow. Also surprisingly quick.
Not the most reliable, but not the worst either. The big issue is with the automatic transmissions. If it’s a manual, I’d say go for it.
The automatics are definitely not reliable.

I had a 2019 Fiesta ST as a commuter, and it was great.

As long as it’s a manual, you should be alright. But if reliability is what you want, consider getting a Honda or Toyota instead.

I bought a 2013 Fiesta S sedan with a 5-speed manual brand new. Nine years later, with 49k miles, it’s been pretty reliable. I average about 32 mpg. Only issue I had was with the OEM radio system, which went bad after 7 years and needed to be replaced. The car is fun to drive, especially around town. Haven’t taken it on long road trips though. I’m guessing there isn’t much difference between the 2013 and 2019 models. Good luck with your decision!

I know someone who had a pretty reliable one, but it might’ve had some upgrades.

I own a 2016 SE manual with the 1.6 NA engine. Bought it as a commuter with 116k miles, and now it’s up to 138k. Only issue I had was a radiator fan with a bad bearing that made an awful noise. I replaced it for $95 and did the work myself with just a box cutter and pliers. My only other complaint is that it’s hard to get into first gear, especially when it’s cold. It’s likely wear on the synchro, and I’ve read it’s a common issue. A fluid change might help, but I haven’t gotten around to it. Overall, it’s been a good car and is surprisingly fun to drive. Plus, I’ve beaten the EPA gas mileage. Last tank (mostly highway), I averaged 46.5 mpg.
