Is a 1984 Mustang GT350 with 17k miles a good buy?

I’ve got my eye on a 1984 Mustang GT350 with only 17k miles on it. Do you guys think it’s a good buy?

That’s awesome! I can almost hear Vanilla Ice playing in the background :joy:. I’ve never seen a 20th Anniversary GT350 before, though. I had to look it up because I thought someone just slapped GT350 stripes on an old Mustang. Honestly, it belongs in a museum, but it would be so much fun to drive!

Yeah, it’s mostly just paint and stripes, to be honest .

I remember a friend buying one way back in the early '90s. It’s not that special, but it’s definitely a pretty car.

How do you keep a car for that long and only rack up 17k miles? It looks amazing!

I wash and wax it every time I take it out, and honestly, I’ve only driven it on 103 trips in total. Definitely not a daily or even weekly driver, but I make sure the battery’s always ready, just in case .

It looks like it belongs in a museum, but I mean that as a compliment! Hope you’ve got good insurance on it. I’d hate to see some teenager texting and driving crash into that beauty.

Right?! I can’t stand people texting while driving. I mean, if it was really 1984, people wouldn’t even be able to check a random text about a meme while they’re speeding down a road. Some folks don’t get that driving requires your full attention… but hey, thank you! I’m super proud of this little pony. It might not have a Shelby badge, but it still shines just fine .

Well, it’s a GT350, but really just in name. That’s why you won’t see a Shelby badge on it anywhere. Still, it’s cool to see since they’re pretty unique in their own right.

Does it have to be a Shelby to be special, though? Shelby is its own thing, just like my car is part of a group of fewer than 600 made. Doesn’t that make it as unique as any Shelby? Okay, maybe not… because Shelbys are cool :sunglasses:. But still, it’s the best in its own lane, and that’s all that matters .

This was probably during the time when Ford and Shelby weren’t working together. Kinda like when Ford claimed they could call their cars “Cobra” without paying Shelby. GT and GT350 were more of a Ford thing.

Exactly! Great callback. It was a tough time for Shelby and the crew since they didn’t see eye to eye on that stuff, so they had to split for a while .

If it were me, I’d throw a big turbo on it and enjoy that retro ride. It’s probably light, around 2900 lbs, too.

Ooooh, turbo… now you’re talking my language. That’s some serious car talk right there .
