Is $39,000 a fair price for a 2017 Mustang GT California Edition?

Is $39,000 a reasonable price for a 2017 Mustang GT California Edition with 11K miles? It has the 401A package, performance wheels, and a car cover.

I feel you man. I got my 2017 GT in January 2020 and have already put 18K miles on it. Its value has increased by around $4K since then which is wild

I had a 2018 and drove it for 50K miles, then sold it for what I originally paid

I wouldn’t suggest buying it at that price. The performance package wheels don’t really justify a higher price, and the GT500 bumper doesn’t significantly increase the value unless you’re specifically a fan of it. In another reply, I mentioned that I ordered my 2017 GT California Special exactly how I wanted it and paid $38K for it. It has the 401A package, an automatic transmission, a $700 optional black-painted roof, and a $500 upgrade to 3.55 gears.

Honestly, without the California Special bumper (which features the GT bumper with the exclusive grille and front splitter) and the special wheels, many of the California Special upgrades are missing.

I’d recommend passing unless you can get it for around $25K.

Also, you can find GTs with superchargers in the $39K range. A good friend of mine is selling a Roush supercharger GT that comes with a long list of performance upgrades for $39,500.

Wow, I really appreciate the thorough explanation. I’m honestly feeling a bit confused and don’t even know the differences or where to start looking, but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the things you mentioned. Given how wild the market is right now, I’ll probably have to wait and find something more affordable in the meantime haha.

Yeah, the Mustang market in my area is pretty messed up. A custom-ordered 2021 GT will set you back $40K, and a 2015 is also around $40K.

What’s the difference between a base GT and a GT Premium? Personally, I really like the interior of the Premium, but it’s priced at least $52K haha.

Yeah, the interior is definitely much nicer, and you also get a better sound system as standard.

It’s mainly just the trim and seat options. That’s if you’re comparing the 301A interior package with the base model; for the Premium, it’s the 400A, I believe.

Basically, I would have gone for a base GT fastback with the 301A upgraded interior, active exhaust, and blackout kit. It would be around $41K MSRP, and my local dealer quoted me about $42K without fees.

I have a 2018 Mustang GT Premium in Shadow Black. The Premium features a fully leather interior, heated and cooled seats, a digital dashboard, a large center console screen, and more. They’re much nicer in my opinion.
