I Still Miss the Fusion and All the Sedans… Anyone Else?

The Fusion getting discontinued was a real loss. I still miss it and all the other sedans. Ford really left us hanging. Anyone else feel the same way?

My 2012 Ford Fusion was great. Solid car.

Ford finally made a good, reliable sedan that was affordable and then just pulled the plug. It’s sad.

It’s like having a cure for something but nobody wants to use it because it doesn’t make them money. Ford knew they had a solid car but it was all about the dollars.

Yeah, if you check out the sales numbers, you’ll see why. They didn’t sell enough for a couple of years in a row, so they dropped it.

I’m a mechanic at a small shop. I’d buy a Fusion for myself, but I never did. I always tell people it’s a great car, but honestly, I don’t want to be stuck in a low car surrounded by SUVs and trucks. I get why Ford made the call… cars just aren’t big sellers right now.

Yeah, it’s a shame. Nowadays, trucks are like tanks and even SUVs are starting to look like trucks.

Just curious, what’s the best engine option for the Fusion?

Maybe if Ford had actually bothered to update the Fusion every few years, like Honda does with the Accord, it would’ve sold better. They just let it sit there. All that profit from trucks and they couldn’t throw a little at the Fusion.

The sales tanked because of how they handled the early models. The bad transmission issues really turned people off.

A cure for cancer would still make money. Sedans made by American brands just didn’t. That’s why they stopped. It wasn’t about image or some conspiracy. Buyers just preferred other brands like Honda. No matter how good the Fusion was, buyers still went for Accords.

Why sell you the well when I can sell you the water bottle at my price?

It was more than just bad timing. Ford’s slow fix on those faulty models made people not trust the newer ones, and that killed it. If Ford had made them reliable from the start, maybe the Fusion would still be around.

The Fusion didn’t have the same problems as the Focus and Fiesta, though. It used a different kind of automatic transmission that was a bit more reliable.

Even so, it still had issues like jerking, shuttering, and seal problems that caused leaks. The early models really hurt its reputation.

Don’t forget the Focus RS was a beast too.

I had a 2009 Ford Focus and loved it. I was so mad when it got totaled. I bought a Fiesta Hatchback, but I wish Ford still made sedans. As a new dad, I just want a car that works for family stuff and my commute. Don’t need two SUVs.

I’ve got one now and it’s been great. V6, all-wheel drive, and the gas mileage isn’t bad either.

The death of the Crown Vic was just as sad.

RIP to affordable V8 power.
