How reliable is the 2000 Mustang?

How reliable are 2000 Mustangs? I just found a clean one on Marketplace with only 12.5k miles. Wanted to see what you all think about their reliability.

If everything’s original, it should be pretty solid. The engines from 99-04 can handle a lot, from what I’ve seen.

I’ve got a 2000 GT with 337,000 miles and an '02 V6 with 459,000. Safe to say I got my money’s worth from them :joy:

I was driving mine about 100 miles a day but ended up getting jealous of my wife’s Mustang Ecoboost, so I got one too. Both my 2000 and 2002 are still sitting in the backyard.

The 4.6L engine with the 8.8 rear end is solid. As long as you keep up with basic maintenance, it’ll run for a good while.

I have a 2001 convertible. I had to replace the top and ignition coils, but that’s after 23 years and 280k miles. In the last 19k miles, it’s been smooth. I drive over 100 miles daily for work, no real issues so far, except a flat tire I caused

My 2000 GT just hit 104k miles, and it’s my daily driver unless there’s snow.

104k? Do you only drive it to the mailbox? :joy: That’s some low mileage for a 24-year-old car.

Haha, yup, just back it up 2-3 feet to grab the mail and then back into the garage. Almost a full tire rotation! But really, I had a sales job for a few years with a new car, free gas, and tolls, so the Mustang got to chill in the garage. Been driving it to work for the past 7 months, and it’s still turning heads.

12.5k miles on a 23-year-old car? That’s like 500 miles a year. You should double-check the odometer hasn’t been swapped. Could have 200k on it instead.

I’ve got a '96 Mustang I drive daily with close to 400k miles, no major issues at all.
