Have you seen these high payload pickups before…

These used to be the main type sold by all major pickup manufacturers. They’re not as popular now since most people want a crew cab.

Because of all those dad bods. With lots of kids needing to haul their stuff at the same time.

I hate my life…

So, no Costco near you?

Looks a lot like my truck (XLT, FX4 with the 7.3 Godzilla). I got it to haul a slide-in camper and wanted a shorter truck with a tighter turning radius.

You don’t see many single cabs out there these days!

More for tow trucks, Ram has the same model.

That’s interesting, thanks for the context.

Do they actually make tow trucks from pickups? I thought they would start with a slightly longer chassis cab model because it has straight frame rails.

I’ve seen a few of them in both Ram and Ford set up as tow trucks. Often the repo type trucks snagging cars.

Yeah, usually 350’s and up.

If it was meant for a tow truck, it wouldn’t have the bed at all.

Generally, it’s up to the buyer to swap out.

They sell them without the bed, so you don’t have to worry about all the sensors and electronics that come with it.

This style is used for repo style tow trucks.

Is that a 6 foot bed? Just curious.

No; they don’t make short beds on regular cabs or with DRW anymore. If they did like they used to, the fender would block the bed step.

The 2023+ 8 foot beds just don’t look as long because of the step. It breaks up the look of the long empty panel.
