Call customer support again—all recall costs should be covered.
Sorry for your loss, my friend. Keep pushing through—it’s hard now, but you’ll get past this. Maybe try talking to the GM of the dealership? They might be more understanding about what you’re going through.
@Maeve
Thank you.
At least you got $40 a day. I got $0 while I waited a month for my transmission to be fixed after it failed at 50k miles—out of warranty.

That’s rough. If it was in warranty, they’d have to pay, but it’s usually not nearly enough. My dealership gives me a loaner, but other places don’t care.
@Keaton
I said it was out of warranty. What part did you think they messed up?

My bad, misread that.
@Keaton
I had a similar experience—waited two months for a suspension issue to get checked out on my 2023 Escape. Thankfully, I have a 7-year extended warranty, so I’m sticking it out.
Did they tell you they’d be waiting for parts? If it wasn’t a major safety issue, they usually let you keep it until the parts come in.
Do you have rental coverage through an extended warranty? Without one, you’re only covered up to $40 per day with Ford, so any extra fees are your responsibility.
You mentioned $900 was mostly fees and tax. Did you smoke in the rental, damage it, or bring it back on empty? Stuff like that won’t be covered by Ford.
Yep, sounds about right! Ford’s service sucks.
My Flex was at the dealership for 6-9 months waiting for the tow link recall. They kept pushing the date back month after month, so I was stuck with a car with no AC through 115-degree heat.
After 18 months, they finally fixed it but didn’t align it right, and it pulls hard to the right now. They also managed to get overspray on the hood while it was sitting there, and when I asked them to buff it out, they refused.
@Ellery
Wow, alignment can’t be ‘visually checked’ unless it’s way off. I’m surprised they said that. The shop I work at is upfront about stuff like this.
@Ellery
The recall only covers aligning the rear axle.

My car drives sideways now. The steering wheel is totally off-center, which wasn’t the case before. Plus, they made a mess of my hood with overspray and wouldn’t even fix it. Worst experience ever.
Ford is clueless—they’ve given me wrong info multiple times on my hybrid. I just do everything myself now.

That sounds more like a dealership issue than Ford itself.
