Gen1 or Gen2. Which one should I go for?

I’m looking to buy my first Raptor and need some advice. For those who have owned one, would you go for the Gen 1 or Gen 2? I’ve heard the Gen 1 has a strong and reliable V8, but the Gen 2 has better tech and looks more modern. What do you guys think?

I’ve had both. If you want something fun for the weekends, the Gen 1 is great. If you need a daily driver, the Gen 2 is the way to go. The Gen 1 is cheaper and has super comfortable seats, but unless you buy one in great condition, you’ll probably need to spend money on maintenance—shocks, plugs, wires, and fixing wear and tear from being an older truck. The Gen 2, on the other hand, has a much nicer interior, drives better, and the suspension is way more refined.

I’ve only owned a Gen 1 (2014), so I can’t compare directly, but I love it. I’ve made some small upgrades to modernize the tech and looks. It’s a beast, and I think it still stands out compared to newer models. If you like something with character and a big V8 under the hood, the Gen 1 is a solid choice.

The Gen 2 is faster and easier to tune for more power. It’s lighter and performs better off-road right out of the box. If you go for a 2019-2020 model, you get the live valve suspension, which is a huge plus. The Gen 2 also has more features depending on the trim, like adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and cameras.

It really depends on what you want. I used Gen 1s for years and still love them. I’d even consider getting another one as a second truck. The engine and transmission are solid, and it still looks great even years later. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either one.
