Thinking about buying a Ford, but I’ve had such good service at my Honda dealer that I’m hesitant. I went in for an oil change without an appointment, and it was going to take a while. I mentioned I’d take the bus to the mall, and they offered to Uber me there and back for free! They also send a little video from the mechanic showing what’s going on with your car, and I’ve had no issues getting loaners when needed.
Depends on the dealership. Mine will pick up my car, service it, and drop it back off. Another one nearby offers shuttles, but they aren’t as reliable. Some send videos, some don’t. It’s hit or miss.
My Ford dealer was a nightmare. I had to walk two miles in 100° heat to pick up my car because they wouldn’t offer a ride.
They also refused to service my differential because it doesn’t have a drain plug (what?). And when I asked them to diagnose a satellite and GPS issue, they just said, ‘It could be the antenna, the wiring, or the API.’ So basically, they did nothing.
I also manage a fleet, and multiple Ford dealers have pulled shady moves to avoid warranty work. One dealership left a car outside waiting on a part, and mice chewed up the wiring harness. Took 12 months to fix, and they tried to bill us. Had to go to Ford corporate to get it handled.
My Ford dealership is great. They pick up my car from my work, service it, and drop it back off. I just pay when I get off work. They also wash my car or give me a free car wash voucher.
Ford service is a disaster. My Explorer has been in the shop for over six months. They’ve done $20K worth of warranty repairs, and the car still shakes above 60 mph.
I told them about the issue, and they said their technician won’t drive over 60 mph to diagnose it.
If your service advisor isn’t in, they literally tell you to call back when they’re available.
If you set up an appointment far enough in advance, Ford offers vehicle pickup and drop-off, similar to what Lincoln does. But it depends on the dealership.
The QuickLane oil change side doesn’t do it. Also, the only update I got about my car was FordPass telling me someone was driving it without a seatbelt, and it had 20 extra miles when I got it back.
They charged me $280 to diagnose a noise. Came back five minutes later and said I needed new tires. So I basically paid $280 for them to look at my car.
Then they wanted another $180 for a set of lug nuts. Total scam. Now that I work at AutoZone, I realize how bad their pricing is.
DO NOT BUY A FORD! I used to be a lifelong Ford guy, but their quality has gone downhill.
Dealers gouge you on price and give low service.
Vehicles have serious quality issues (just Google it).
Customer service is abysmal.
They fired their Chief Quality Officer recently, but the damage is done. I bought a new Ford truck, and it’s been nothing but problems. Customer support is useless, and the dealership can’t fix the issues. It’s still under warranty, and I’m fighting just to get them to do their job.
@Tanner
That’s wild. I’ve only ever owned Fords and never had any issues.
I had a Taurus, a Fusion, and another Taurus before that. I also drive a Ford Explorer and a Bronco for work. Management hasn’t mentioned any problems servicing those either.
I even heard good things about the Edge’s reliability.
@madisonwilson
Same here, which is why I kept buying them. But the truck I got recently changed everything. It’s been a disaster, and I’m not the only one:
