Ford is recalling certain 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E vehicles that were incorrectly repaired under a previous recall (22V-412). The issue is with the high-voltage battery main contactors, which could overheat. Dealers will update the software for free, and owner notification letters will be sent out by April 14, 2025. If you own one of these cars, you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The recall number is 25S14.
My 2021 had the contactor fail just a week after they updated the software that was supposed to prevent it. They gave me a GT to use while fixing my Premium… and I ended up trading for a Rally after that!

So far, 242 cars are affected by this recall.
Yeah, but remember when they said only the 2021 and 2022 models were affected in that big HVBJB recall? We’ve all seen 2023 and 2024 models with the same failure.
@Teagan
This recall is just about the software, not the HVBJB issue. Some cars got the wrong version of the software that was supposed to detect HVBJB failures and limit current flow.

That’s what they’re saying now… but at first, they also claimed the HVBJB problem was limited to certain model years, and that turned out to be false. Who knows how many more cars will be added later?
@Teagan
From what I understand, the incorrect software was available for about a week. The 200+ cars affected were updated either by owners eager to get the latest version or by some dealers before Ford’s official guidelines were released. After that, the cars stopped receiving updates, so they missed the corrected version. That’s why only the 2021 and 2022 models are listed… for now.

Do we know if the software update affects horsepower and torque? If it does, Ford might be looking at something like the RX-8 lawsuit all over again.
Pretty sure it does. But Ford will probably get away with it because they can claim the car still makes its advertised power… for a second. Then it gets throttled down hard.
