Ford Concept 24.7... What Should I Do with It?

Find a way to drive it. That’s cool as hell.

That’s the plan, from what I remember it doesn’t have an ignition key or anything like that. I might need to mod it with one. My guess is it’s push-button start, which didn’t seem right for a 2000 car, but this thing is so advanced it might just have it.

@Stormy
Keep it indoors, away from the weather. Concept cars are sometimes like art projects, and moisture could mess up the materials used. I’d get every part from wherever it came from before it disappears; it’ll all be custom. Worst-case, turn it into a legend and run it in the 24hrs of Lemons or Gambler500.

@Stormy
My 1938 Ford has no key and a push button start on the dash.

@Stormy
If they used enough off-the-shelf parts, like a BCM from a Taurus or Focus, there’s a chance there could be a key under the dash in a rats nest of wires.

A little more context because I couldn’t put it in the post. This isn’t just me showing off something cool, I’m looking for advice. I’ve been given this car because the previous owner wanted it out of his sight. It doesn’t run, but supposedly the electronics work. He says it’s basically a Ford Focus with a new body and interior. Not sure if that’s true, but I don’t know much about it. I haven’t even tried turning it on yet, but I’ll be towing it soon to figure out what’s wrong. My plan is to at least get it running. Does anyone have any useful info on this concept car that might help me fix it?

@Stormy
Looks like there were three versions of this. You can read about it here: https://www.story-cars.com/the-bonkers-history-of-the-2000s-ford-24-7-concepts

@Warren
That wagon rocks

@Stormy
It’s essentially a Focus underneath. Not sure if it’s street legal though. Some states have laws against concept cars because they often lack safety features like airbags. You’re technically supposed to only drive them on private property or tracks. You could use it as a lawn ornament or in a shop, though.

@Stormy
Do you have a title? You might not be able to drive it legally as most concept cars have to be destroyed.

You should call The Henry Ford Museum and see if they’d buy it.

They might take it. Ford is pretty serious about getting their products back, and they mark everything to ensure that.

@Axel
Henry got mad when Ford jeeps from WWII ended up in Russia. The Russians removed the Ford logos, so Henry ordered that every part would be marked with the Ford logo. Those jeeps are worth more now if you have one.

@Axel
The Henry Ford Museum isn’t actually part of Ford though.

Is there a VIN stamped on it?

I’ll check tomorrow, I’m not at the shop right now.

If it doesn’t have a VIN, you’ll have a tough time getting it on public roads.

Why would you ever leave such a beauty behind?

Ok, if you ever want to get rid of it, I want to buy it.
