Finally Got My New Truck,Thoughts on Fuel Additives?

I just picked up a 2025 F250 Lariat Tremor with the 6.7 HO. I’ve been searching for months and settled on this one for my growing landscape construction business. I need it for hauling materials and towing the skid steer. What fuel additives do you recommend? Anything I should watch out for?

Congrats on the new truck! I got my 2025 F350 Lariat 6.7 last Friday and it’s been amazing. Avalanche might be my favorite Ford color yet. Wishing you many smooth miles ahead!

Yeah, Avalanche is really starting to grow on me.

Enjoy the truck! I’m getting rid of my 6.7L once my new truck arrives. Around 107k miles, the A/C compressor failed. I had to service the DPF and emissions system once under warranty due to clogging, probably not enough regen cycles. A turbo hose split too, but that was an easy fix. My APIM failed, so I lost Bluetooth, and the dealer didn’t want to fix it even under warranty. Left bad reviews and never went back. But the 6.7L is powerful, and I think the HO will be great for you. Mine could chirp the tires into third if I hit the gas just right. Are you asking about fuel or performance additives?

@Jacqueline
Mostly thinking about fuel additives. I don’t want to mess with the powertrain because of the 7-year/100k warranty.

Makes sense; better safe than sorry. I’ve used Diesel Kleen for years after seeing it recommended in a test on this forum. It’s affordable, and I use a funnel that measures ounces to get the right amount. No engine knocking, and I’m getting 16-17 mpg combined. Ultra-low sulphur diesel doesn’t lubricate as well as older fuel, so additives help. Also, the 6.7L has had fuel system issues with water, so maybe look into a water separator like the one from Diesel Site. It shouldn’t affect your warranty.

@Jacqueline
Hopefully, I avoid those issues! What truck are you getting to replace the 6.7?

I’m switching to a 2025 SRW F-350 XLT Super Cab with the 7.3L gas engine. The longer bed will suit my work better, and I can get good trade-in value for my 2016. I’m not done with diesels, though. A family friend is selling me a low-mileage 2001 DRW F-350 with the 7.3L Powerstroke. It’s built like a Western Hauler and will be my fun project truck. I love those old 7.3s!

@Jacqueline
That’s a solid plan.

Just a heads-up: I have an 18 F150 with an even worse APIM issue. The biggest Ford dealer in New Mexico looked at it four times and said it was fine. I lost Bluetooth, radio, heater, and A/C. Even my presets were wiped. It took them 10 days once, and they still did nothing. Ford’s electronics are junk.

@Scarlett
That is rough! I still have steering wheel controls, but no Bluetooth. I just plug my phone into SYNC and move on. You definitely got the short end of the stick. Which dealer in NM was this? I visit Las Cruces and Deming sometimes, and I want to avoid that place.

@Jacqueline
Rich Ford. My steering wheel controls, dash controls, and touchscreen all stop working sometimes.

Wow, that’s terrible. Maybe we need a support group for people with APIM issues. I’ll definitely steer clear of that dealer if I’m up north.

That truck looks great. I really want the 2025 F250 King Ranch Turbo Diesel for my homebuilding business, but it’s hard to justify spending $100,000. If I buy it, I’ll keep it for at least 15 years.

Just so you know, this model might have a lower payload. Check the yellow sticker on the driver-side B pillar.

Payload is 3,019 lbs.

A Lariat tremor feels like too much for a construction truck, but that’s just me. An XL model could have done the job and has a higher payload. Check out Project Farm’s review on fuel additives on YouTube. I’m using Hot Shot’s EDT in my 2024 F250. Also, look into the S&S Disaster Prevention Kit. Congrats on the new truck!
