Brand New Escape - Nervous About Using Adaptive Cruise Control

I recently got a brand new Ford Escape, and I’m really eager to use the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), especially on my daily commute, which involves a lot of stop-and-go traffic on a 40 MPH road. The idea of ACC sounds great on paper, but I’m terrified it won’t work properly, especially when I see a car stopped ahead at a red light. I end up canceling ACC and braking manually because I’m so worried about the system failing and me rear-ending someone.

For those of you who use ACC regularly, how did you build up the courage to trust it? I really want to make use of this feature, but I’m anxious about the possibility of an accident. Any tips or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!

The system is designed to assist you, not replace your judgment.

Begin by using ACC on a less congested road or at lower speeds to get a feel for how it works.

Even with ACC activated, it’s important to maintain a safe following distance. Always be ready to take control of the vehicle if necessary.

ACC is a tool, not a guarantee of safety. Adaptive Cruise Control is a proven technology that has been used in many vehicles for years.

With proper use, it can significantly reduce stress and fatigue while driving.
