Just got a 250 XL 4x4 regular cab with the 6.8 engine for plowing, and I was surprised to see there’s no tow/haul button on the shifter or anywhere else. Apparently, it’s supposed to adjust automatically, but I’m not convinced. Anyone know if using an adapter in the trailer hookup might trick it into going into tow mode? Dropped $50k on this, and now I’m worried it might cause issues down the line.

You’ll be alright. These modern trucks are designed to need less manual input from the driver.
Yeah, but it’s strange that it’s still included on higher trims. Those higher shift points have a purpose beyond being a fancy feature, so it feels odd.

If plowing is all you’re using it for, you’ll be fine. Been plowing for years, and I rarely use tow/haul mode.

Check the 4x4 knob; you can select different drive modes with it.

Thanks! I bought it sight unseen, and it was delivered without an owner’s manual.
