Anyone tried this dual MagSafe charger? Ford's built-in one is just a phone heater

Yeah, I have one in my Mach-E too. Works way better and actually holds the phone in place, unlike Ford’s stock charger that makes the phone slide all over.

My wife got this for me and we both love it. We can charge both our phones on long trips. She’s a genius. I’m lucky.

$100? No way. I’ll stick with a $5 cable.

Would consider if it was around $40. I do like that the passenger gets a charging spot too.

Yep, same here.

It’s 3D printed, so the material cost isn’t high.

@Dustin
Maybe the inside is, but the outside isn’t.

Also, why does it matter how it’s made?

I don’t really care how it’s made. If you’ve used it for a while and looked at it closely, you’ll see it’s cheaply made but sold at a high price. If it worked as well as they claim, I wouldn’t mind people promoting it here. But people who don’t own one should know what they’re actually getting. Ever bought something and later realised you wasted your money? That’s what this is.

@Dustin
That’s crazy. I have a 3D printer. Send me the STL file :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I replaced the mat with a silicone one, and now the stock charger works fine for me. Using it with a Galaxy S23U.

Bought one too, and it’s great.

I, too, bought myself a wife.

I had this for a few months, but honestly, it’s not worth it. The only good thing is that it holds the phone in place. It barely charges the phone while using CarPlay. On a 3-hour drive, my battery went up by 3%. If anyone wants to buy mine, let me know.

@Jonathan
$100 is steep.

Yeah, it’s expensive… Took a chance on it, but for me, it was totally worth it.

@Jonathan
If they could get rid of that bulky black box or hide it in the base, I’d be interested. Ford’s stock charger is useless. One of the few things I don’t like about my Mach-E.

Honestly, the black box isn’t as bad as I thought. I just used some double-sided tape and stuck it somewhere I can’t see while driving haha :joy:

@Jonathan
I have to disagree. Used it for months, and it just holds the phone in place, but the charging is weak. It barely kept up with CarPlay, and after a 3-hour drive, my phone only gained 3%. Took it out two months ago. If anyone wants mine, hit me up. If you just need a phone holder, it’s fine, but don’t expect much charging power.

@Dustin
Same here. Not worth it. Got a MagSafe mount that plugs into USB-C, and it actually charges my phone instead of just keeping it from dying. But hey, if OP likes it, that’s cool.

@Dustin
It won’t fast charge, but it does stop your phone from losing battery while using CarPlay. It’ll go up slowly, just not by much.
