I’m a single guy, and I love being in a bigger vehicle. Makes me feel safer, and sitting up high is nice too. But sometimes I wonder if buying a big family SUV is overkill just for me.
Thinking about upgrading from my 2011 Escape to a 2025 Explorer.

If you like it, go for it. Fold the back seats down and take road trips. You can even sleep in the back. It’s only a waste if you don’t use it.
This is what I do too. Folded seats, all my camping and beach gear fits, even my bike goes in the back.
I’m married but no kids and I love mine. I use it to haul stuff for my business, and it fits perfectly with my lifestyle. I know a single guy who drives one, and it never seemed strange to me. If it works for you and you like it, that’s all that matters.

Same here. Great for Costco runs and anything else bulky.
I have a 2018 and I’m dating around. The women I’ve had in the car love it—plenty of space, seat warmers, dual climate, comfy armrest, and you sit up high. The seats are super plush, and it’s great for road trips, even though the MPG sucks. Just go for a model with a strong look, not one that screams ‘soccer mom.’ It’s not a luxury car, but it’s solid. And hey, unlike a flashy sports car, it shows you’re practical and confident.

Aw, I like the early Escapes. They’re like mini Explorers.

Nah, the newer Escapes (like 2023) are terrible compared to the Explorer. The handling, acceleration, and brakes were awful on the one I tried. Maybe older models were better, but I couldn’t stand driving it.

Single, no family, but I’ve got three German Shepherds, so it works great for them.

Single guy here. Bought my 2018 new, and it’s fantastic. Tons of space for events or hauling stuff. Mine has 4WD and towing capabilities, so it can handle pretty much anything. Plan to drive it until it gives out.

I’m divorced—does that count? My other ride is a 2006 WRX STI, which is brutal on my knees now. Went for a '15 Explorer Sport because it’s easier to get in and out of. My girlfriend has two kids, and they all love my Explorer way more than her Traverse.

I’m a big guy, 6’3", and I always drive larger vehicles. The gas mileage is a trade-off, but the safety, space, and towing options are worth it. Plus, dates are usually more comfortable in a big, roomy SUV.

Single, 5’11" and 340 lbs here. Got a '22 ST-Line for road trips and camping. Also handy for driving my elderly parents around. It’s been a dream to drive, and I can’t wait to test my new Michelin Crossclimate 2 tires this winter.

I had an Astro van for 12 years, five of them while single. Buy what you like and don’t worry about what people think.

Used to drive an Escape but upgraded to a 2025 Explorer ST. Now I can fit my road bike in the back with ease.

I’m not single, but 99.9% of the time I’m the only one in the Explorer.

Youngest Explorer ST driver here—17 and single. Got a 2021 and drive it everywhere. Hard work pays off, and I love this car.
