Anyone got thoughts on the Maverick's reliability?

@Kylie
Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into that!

Yeah, that’s a good idea! Thanks for sharing.

How reliable is this warranty? I’m new to all this and not sure how it works.

@Sadie
Pretty sure this is a Ford-backed warranty, so any Ford dealership will honor it. I bought one for my 2018 Mustang, paid around $1200 for 5 years and 100k miles.

I had no idea this existed until now. I need to look into this!

You can also use FordPass points towards the warranty, don’t forget that.

Considering the base price of the Maverick, it’s easy to justify getting the extended warranty. I added 8 years/100k miles for about $1260, still a great deal overall.

@Finnley
Where’d you get that price? Seems fair.

Flood Ford, they had the best price from what I found.

Yeah, same here. Did my research, and they had the best deal.

I doubt rust or corrosion would be covered under that warranty, though.

@Sadie
Ford covers rust through perforation for 5 years with unlimited mileage, I believe.

The hybrid parts are covered for 8 years or 100k miles. Regular bumper-to-bumper is 3 years/36k miles and 5 years/60k miles for the drivetrain. It depends on how much you drive, but I went with the 100k miles bumper-to-bumper, $100 deductible. It makes the most sense for me.

We’ve got a 2015 Escape with the 2.0 EcoBoost and just bought the EcoBoost Maverick. No major issues with the Escape and it’s almost at 100k miles. Since the Maverick uses the same engine and platform, we’re not too worried about reliability. The hybrid is a bit of an unknown, though.

@Sadie
How often do you do oil changes?

Every 5k miles or so.

@Sadie
Ford built hybrid Escapes for over a decade. My accountant had one and it ran forever without issues.

They did, but they used a different engine back then. Hybrids aren’t new, but this particular engine is.

@Sadie
True, they used a 2.5-liter engine in those hybrids. The Maverick’s hybrid setup is different.
