I’ve been having trouble at a lot of gas stations where the nozzle keeps triggering the auto shutoff unless I hold it really far out. Is anyone else dealing with this?
Try turning the gas pump sideways. Mine used to do the same thing until I just kept pumping, and it sort of fixed itself over time. Strange, but it worked for me.

Thanks, I’ll give that a shot and see if it helps .
It should fit in normally though, right?

Yeah, it fits fine, but it always shuts off after just half a second. If I pull it out almost to where the gas is about to spill, it works… but that’s not ideal.
@Zeke
Same issue here. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to do that, but it’s definitely been getting worse the last few years.
@Zeke
Are those the pumps with the rubber gasket around the nozzle? I’ve noticed those sometimes cause issues.
@Zeke
It might be the purge valve. That’s a common problem in Fusions. The purge valve lets air escape as you fill the tank. If it’s not working, the air doesn’t leave, and it tricks the nozzle into thinking the tank is full.
It could be a few things, like the purge valve, vapor canister, or maybe even a kinked filler neck hose. I’m not sure if that last one happens in Fusions, but it’s common in other cars. The issue is that it’s not venting the fuel vapor properly, so it keeps shutting off.
Has this been happening for a while? Do you ever top off your tank? It might be related to the vapor canister if you’ve had issues where it stopped mid-pump before.
This is a pretty common issue with Fusions. It’s likely the Purge Valve solenoid. Is your engine light on by any chance?
I haven’t had any issues with mine. Maybe it’s just your car.
