Usually just from shifting around or resting their hand on it.
@Skyler
I’ve got a 2013 Hybrid SE and no button here either.
@Skyler
Looks like finding the right door panel at my local junkyard isn’t happening. eBay ones go for around $170! So annoying.

Hybrids have a pressurised gas tank. The button lets the system release pressure before the gas door opens.
Well, that explains why there’s a delay when you press the button.
@Josephine
Yeah, if you don’t close it and start driving, you’ll get a check engine warning.
Higher trim and hybrid models need the button or the release in the trunk. Lower trims? Just push the door in.
One time during a cold night, my gas door was frozen shut. Couldn’t open it for ages.

Same thing happened to me. Thought I’d need an expensive repair before realising it was just frozen.
My 2017 Sport has a spring-loaded door with no cap. Just push it open and pump.
Got a 2015 Hybrid… no button on mine.

Same here.
I just open it by hand.
Being a Jedi, I just use the Force to open mine.
I just step out and press the cover, and it opens.

Mine doesn’t work that way. The charging door opens that way, but not the gas one.
Just push on the door, it opens up.
Could you just cut a hole in the other panel? Maybe there’s a spot marked out for it…
