Hey everyone, my car overheated today and I’m really worried about it. I got the vehicle in July 2024 and had to tow it to my Ford dealer. Now, I’ve been reading about coolant intrusion issues and it’s got me freaked out. I noticed the car wasn’t blowing warm air last night. I checked the coolant level and it was slightly above the minimum. I planned to top it off today but it overheated before I had the chance. When I checked, the coolant was totally gone. The car has about 9,906 km on it (around 6,155 miles). Is this the usual time when Escape models start having coolant intrusion problems? Any advice would be super helpful, I feel totally lost.
Coolant intrusion problems were more common with the late teens models. The 2020 and newer models are part of the new generation and shouldn’t have that issue.
It could be that coolant is leaking from a part or hose. Did you notice any yellow or orange puddles under the car?

No, but it’s pretty dark when I leave and get home. I’ll try to check it tomorrow in daylight.
Hope you’re still under warranty … that’s your best bet.
Haha, no worries, it sounds like an external coolant leak or maybe the oil cooler is damaged or something. Luckily, you’ve got full warranty, just take it to Ford!

Thanks for the reassurance! The car is at Ford now, they’re going to check it out tomorrow.

And it’ll be free to fix!

The service team says it’s a coolant leak from the block heater. I guess that’s what it is.
Just curious, what engine do you have in your Escape?
Get rid of it while you can. Don’t wait around for more issues.
