2019 F150 cam phaser issue returns

I have a 2019 F150 XLT and I love it. It’s my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. I bought it brand new in March of 2020, and everything was fine.

The cam phaser issues started in 2021, and I had the recall work performed. No issues.

Unfortunately, last week I started hearing the same kicking rattle on cold start.

My question is: what are my options? Can I contact Ford and hope for some help with this issue, or am I screwed? I’ve read lots of opinions with some people saying even though the recall is closed, Ford has helped with parts and a percentage of labor for some folks.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Help!

There are updated phasers out now that are supposed to be a permanent fix for the concern. Unfortunately, you’re probably not going to get any help from Ford on them. By all means try, but don’t go in expecting a whole lot. If they were replaced under warranty, send me the VIN and I’ll look it up to see if they’re the new design or not.

Find a good local non-dealer shop and get the new OEM phasers installed. Mine with timing chains and water pump cost 3300 to get done.

Ok cool, not terrible. I’ve been seeing 4-6k comments.

From a dealer, yes, but an independent repair shop will be cheaper.

Awesome, thanks man

If you’re still under 5/60, it’ll be covered. Or since you’re the original owner, you may qualify for some Ford assistance. The dealer would have to submit for it on your behalf.

No, unfortunately 110k miles, bought it in March of 2020.
