If you’re talking about the flat part of the bumper, it’s probably from people dragging stuff in and out of the trunk. Happens a lot.

I’m actually noticing it above the Edge logo. Seems odd.
@Edwardmark
Oh, I see what you mean… at first, I thought those were just shadows. I have a black 2019, and I haven’t had that issue. Is it just on that side or both?

From the pictures, it looks like it’s only on that one side.
Honestly, the Edge doesn’t hold value well, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the paint. The real concern is the engine and transmission.

What’s your take on the 2018 Edge when it comes to the engine and transmission? Any big issues?
@Edwardmark
The big one is coolant intrusion, which can wreck the engine. If it happens, you’re looking at a full engine replacement. Transmission-wise, it’s hit or miss. Some people have no problems at 200k+ miles, others have early failures. If you’re buying, I’d definitely get a good warranty.
@Edwardmark
I’d be careful with the 2018 Edge. The engine has a known issue where it can leak coolant and destroy itself. Not sure about the transmission in the ‘18, but I have a 2019 and the transmission isn’t the smoothest. I think the 2018 has the 6-speed instead of the 8-speed, so it might be fine, but I haven’t driven one myself.
@Zayne
Appreciate the info!
@Edwardmark
Which engine do you have? The 2.0L or 3.5L?

3.5L.

3.5L.
Good news—coolant intrusion only affects the 2.0L. I bought a 2018 with the 2.0L, and thankfully, it was still under warranty because the engine failed after two weeks.
@Harper
Damn… that’s rough

Yeah, no coolant issue with the 3.5L, but you might want to keep an eye on the water pump.
@Leeland
Good to know, thanks. Haven’t checked the cost for a water pump yet, but I’m guessing it’s a lot cheaper than a new engine!
