2014 Ford F-150 5.0 with 77k miles... good year or nah?

Looking at a 2014 F-150 with the 5.0 and 6-speed, only 77k miles. Is this a solid year for the 5.0 or should I keep looking?

I’m at 331k miles on mine, all original. No complaints. Just check for oil leaks underneath and you’re good to go.

That’s crazy low miles for that setup. I’ve got 155k on mine. Had a few minor things go wrong but nothing major. Great engine and transmission.

Arguably the best year for the 5.0.

I’ve got a 2017 Lariat with the 5.0 and 6-speed — about 175k miles now. Runs great, but the VVT solenoids gave me trouble when I followed the oil change intervals from the onboard computer… learned the hard way that waiting that long is a bad idea.

Had to replace the intake manifold around 90k because the actuator rod snapped — corroded from washer fluid dripping down from the driver’s side jet.

Honestly, if your truck’s clean and running well, I’d keep it until the wheels fall off. These engines can go forever with regular maintenance.

Engine and drivetrain are solid — body will probably rust out before the motor dies.

When did they switch to aluminum bodies?

Depends where you’re at. Salt air near the coast will still eat it up.

Colorado gang here… no rust issues either.

Original owner here, coming up on 60k miles. No major issues. Towed a 4k lb travel trailer for the first six years — now I have a camper shell and decked bed system for off-grid camping.

MPG isn’t great… 12-14 in town, 17-19 on the highway.

Send it. You can use Forscan to unlock some hidden features if it didn’t come fully loaded from the factory.

Great motor, only weak point is the valves. Some of them are softer metal and can warp from heat over time. Mine made it to 215k before the valves started going bad.
