I’m having an issue with my 1990 Full Size Bronco passenger side electric window. When I try to roll it up, it makes a clunking noise near the top and stops. It continues to make noise when trying to raise it further, but works fine when rolling it down. I can manually assist the window, but it won’t rise on its own. The motor seems to be working, but the mechanism doesn’t engage properly during ascent. Any ideas?
Sounds like debris might have gotten into the window mechanism, or there could be an issue with the gears. Have you checked how the window is attached to the regulator?

I did open up the regulator and found some debris inside. The motor seems fine, but the mechanism is still acting up.
It could be a problem with the regulator. Sometimes the gears can wear out or get misaligned. Try inspecting the gears for any missing teeth or damage.

I’ll check the gears again and make sure nothing is worn or misaligned. Thanks for the advice!
There’s usually an adjustment on the regulator, but it doesn’t affect the window’s upward movement. It could also be a broken spline or something stuck inside the track.

I noticed there’s an adjustment on the regulator. I’ll take a closer look to see if that could help.
If the regulator is malfunctioning or the window track is clogged with debris, you may need to remove the regulator and clean or replace it.

I did remove the regulator and cleaned it. It’s better, but I think the issue is more with how the mechanism is engaging. I’ll check it more thoroughly.
If you can move the window manually, that points to a problem with the motor or regulator mechanism. Make sure the motor is engaging properly with the regulator when you press the switch.

The motor seems to be working, but I think the issue is with the engagement of the mechanism. I’ll try to troubleshoot further.
